It was restored magically by Hathor and so now represents wholeness. On the right is the sacred cobra snake; goddess Udjet (The all-seeing eye). This is also a symbol of lower Egypt. On the left is the vulture Nekhbet, which is the symbol of Upper Egypt. It's holding the shen ring, a concept of eternity because of its never-ending circle. These two creatures together represent the entire Kingdom of Egypt.

This is a wonderfully detailed symbol of life, or ankh as the Ancient Egyptians would have called it.
The top is a circle that represents life that is continuous into the afterlife.
There are two cartouches within the detail of the symbol, both stand for Tutankhamun.
The king would officially have five names. The cartouche with the scarab symbol inside is his prenomen-NebKheprure which means 'The Lordly scarab manifestation of Re'.
The other cartouche is his nomen-Heqa-Iunu-shema, which means 'Living image of Amun, ruler of Upper Egyptian Heliopolis'. Amun was the creator god and Heliopolis was the capital that was associated with the sun. In side the circle itself, if you look closely you can see the elements of the cartouche that contains the scarab. This was another more fun and creative way to write the name. Surrounding the name there is also the protective cobra and beneath is the lotus flower that symbolized rebirth and resurrection. One must remember every picture in Ancient Egypt has a meaning and it's just a matter of solving the puzzle in order to understand the whole picture.

Papyrus Painting of God Khepri

Price : $6.25

Papyrus Painting of Egyptian Scarab Beetle; the personification of God Khepri.

The Scarab Beetle: Ancient Symbol for Resurrection and Rebirth: This beautiful emblem of a scarab is the representation of the god Khepri, a sun god that was associated with resurrection. The beetle became associated with the sun after the Egyptians watched them in nature. The beetle would roll a ball of dung (shaped like the sun) across the desert that carried its babies. This is not only a scarab but also three separate Hieroglyphic signs that make up the name for a very famous King-Tutankhamun. This is actually his prenomen- Neb-Khepru-Re which means ‘ the Lordly manifestation of Re’. On the very top is the circle that stands for Re. In the middle is the scarab, which stands for Khepru, and on the bottom is a basket shape that stands for Neb. Egyptians were very clever people and all their artwork has meaning to it, if you can just look hard enough!.
